Women Film Critics Circle announces 2019 award nominations

I've long had my issues with the Women Film Critics Circle, and long felt conflicted about those issues, since I'd love little more than to hold a women-only film critics group up as a bastion of taste and integrity. But they've done decently enough this year in their 2019 award nominations! Sure, it helps to cram your categories with 14 nominees, but why not? This has been a stronger year than most for female filmmakers receiving high profile recognition, and it's a horrible shame to see that largely ignored by major voting bodies like the BFCA and the HFPA.

Honey, I do not know when the WFCC will announce their award winners, as they're about as opaque a group as they come, but for now we can just appreciate their nominations. Maybe everybody wins!
