Trailer: The White Crow

Sony Pictures Classics normally has a feel for what mature audiences want at American arthouses, though any potential Oscar bids may have been scuppered by the international rollout for Ralph Fiennes' The White Crow. Fiennes is a talented director, if predictably prone to excessive seriousness, and the campy combo of ballet and political thriller already has me looking forward to his latest. A minimal festival run through the final third of 2018 and some significant disinterest from critics has The White Crow's 2019 awards chances (yes, we're already talking about those) set to minimum, but this looks entirely respectable all the same. Most seduced by Max Richter's Vivaldi arrangement in the above trailer too. Out in the UK on the 22nd of March.
