Needless to say, Claire Denis' long-awaited High Life was top of many cinephiles' most hotly-anticipated lists long before it premiered at the Venice Film Festival last month; since then, said anticipation has only intensified, with a largely rapturous critical response increasing the fervour. This is the film's first trailer, ahead of its impending French theatrical release, and while a US release has not yet been confirmed, the film's acquisition by distributor-of-the-moment A24 spells positive things for High Life's international prospects. I'd be at a full 10/10, frothing-at-the-mouth excitement level were Agnes Godard and Patricia Arquette still involved, but a 9/10, veins-bulging-out-of-my-skin level will certainly suffice.
