Lee Chang Dong has made a fine habit of impressing critics on the arthouse and festival scene for years, though arguably none of his titles has made so strong an impression as Burning did when it premiered in competition at Cannes earlier this year. It broke Screen Daily Critics Grid records, won the prestigious FIPRESCI prize, and then went home empty-handed in jury awards. Adapted from a Murakami Haruki short story and starring The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun, the drama-thriller's first full trailer is above ahead of its U.S. release on the 26th of October; the South Korean Oscar submissions team has finally made a decent choice and has selected Lee's latest as their country's official pick for the 2018 Oscars.
