The 2005 Critics Consensus Award Winners

There was no doubting Brokeback Mountain's dominance during the critics' awards portion of the '05-'06 season (and, indeed, during the industry awards portion too, alas). That said, despite a record-equalling eight nominations for the Critics Consensus Awards, the cumulative tally of all critics' awards and polls each year, Ang Lee's groundbreaking Western wins only three prizes. All three of its actors miss out, and it even loses to Capote in Adapted Screenplay (though only just). Paul Giamatti wins a second consecutive CCA, and Amy Adams triumphs on her first appearance of many still to come, so no as-yet-endless wait for recognition for the ever-overdue star. Here's something: his Ensemble Cast credit gives Ryan Phillippe a second CCA victory. How about that. Check out all the 2005 winners below.
