The 1992 Critics Consensus Award Nominations

Stephen Rea and Miranda Richardson in The Crying Game

Two of 1992's biggest critical hits lead nominations for the year at the Critics Consensus Awards, one that's held up under 27 years of scrutiny and one that... has not. Clint Eastwood's Oscar winner Unforgiven likewise supplies the cinema legend his first CCA nods with five in total for the movie, while Neil Jordan's questionable sleeper The Crying Game also scores five, both landing in Best Picture and Director. Spike Lee's Malcolm X also makes an appearance in Picture, while two Best Actress contenders come from non-English language titles. And as with last year in Supporting Actor, this year's Supporting Actress lineup omits the controversial Oscar winner, Marisa Tomei, opting instead for a double nomination for Miranda Richardson (something that's not permitted at Oscar). Also: look! Quentin Tarantino's first nomination, in spite of what we hear nowadays about Reservoir Dogs not being successful in its time. All the nominations are below, with award winners to come later today.
