Nina Hoss and Cate Blanchett in Tar

Arguably the most prestigious awards of the critics' section of every awards season come from the New York Film Critics Circle, and they've well and truly kick-started the current season by announcing Todd Field's Tar as the Best Film of 2022. Its lead, Cate Blanchett, wins Best Actress, while Colin Farrell wins Best Actor for two titles: After Yang and The Banshees of Inisherin. Controversially, Nope's leading lady Keke Palmer wins in a Supporting category here; even more controversially, S. S. Rajamouli wins the NYFCC Best Director prize for his unabashedly Hindu nationalist fictional historical epic RRR. A disgraceful look for this group, sullying each and every one of their other choices this year. All the details below.
