2019 St. Louis Film Critics Association award nominations announced

Surprises abound in the nominations for the St. Louis Film Critics Association's 2019 awards. How about a robust showing for Parasite only for it to miss out on one of ten Best Picture slots? Or major acting snubs like Robert de Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Lupita Nyong'o, Jennifer Lopez and Tom Hanks? Or - and at last a good one - a Best Picture nod for Long Day's Journey Into Night, one of the decade's most extraordinary movies?

It's a bizarre bunch, and not always a satisfying one (no women in Best Director, no actors of colour in Best Supporting Actress), but at least it's unique! The SLFCA will announce its award winners for the year next weekend, so check back then!
