Snubs and surprises in the 28th SAG Awards nominations
Bump this up to the top of your awards season shockers: the 2021 Screen Actors Guild Awards nominees have just been announced, and they're quite the selection. Among the inclusions that have gotten everyone talking are Javier Bardem for Being the Ricardos, Cate Blanchett for Nightmare Alley, and Ben Affleck for The Tender Bar, plus a strong triple showing for the highly divisive House of Gucci. But even more talk surrounds some of the exclusions: both of Belfast's Supporting Actor hopefuls, Jamie Dornan and Ciaran Hinds, presumed Supporting Actress lock Aunjanue Ellis for King Richard (which, alongside Belfast, is up for Best Cast), and, most striking of all, Kristen Stewart for Spencer in Leading Actress. That particular category's race just got a hell of a lot more interesting. Oddly, the one category that hasn't left Oscar watchers scratching their heads is Stunt Ensemble, which is often the weirdest selection of all here. This year's SAG Awards are currently scheduled to take place on the 27th of February.
