San Diego Film Critics Society's 2020 award winners announced

The awards just keep on coming for Promising Young Woman. Emerald Fennell's dark comedy is riding a wave of critical and industry buzz en route to potentially claiming a spot near the top of the Oscar race, here taking in a Best Picture prize from the San Diego Film Critics Society. Lead Carey Mulligan wins Best Actress and is among several familiar honorees among the SDFCS' roster: Nomadland director Chloe Zhao and Mulligan's countryman Riz Ahmed winning Best Actor for Sound of Metal. This lot really likes The Trial of the Chicago 7, though luckily not enough to net it any awards - five runner-up slots will just have to cut it! Check out the San Diego critics' nominations at this link.
