Pig named Best Picture of 2021 by Greater Western New York Film Critics Association

It's just the right time in the current awards season for a curveball, now that a general shape has begun to settle in place, and Pig is just the right curveball for the job. Michael Sarnoski's debut feature takes three prizes from the Greater Western New York Film Critics Association awards including Best Picture, beating a slew of top Oscar favourites such as Dune, Licorice Pizza and The Power of the Dog. This is its first top prize of the season, which it wins alongside a Breakthrough Director award for Sarnoski, and Nicolas Cage in Best Lead Actor... sorry, Best Thespian. Kudos to these voters for not forgetting Judas and the Black Messiah is eligible for their 2021 awards, and not just lazily pandering for Oscar relevance.
