Parasite and Jojo Rabbit win top Writers Guild of America prizes

The final guild of awards season 2019-20 to announce its award winners is the Writers Guild of America. They held their annual prize-giving ceremony last night, and in the process both delighted and disappointed the online cinephile community. Parasite was their popular pick for Original Screenplay, though remember that Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood script was ineligible here, so the race for the Original Screenplay Oscar (and BAFTA) remains up in the air.
On the Adapted Screenplay side, Jojo Rabbit was the WGA's far-less popular pick, beating presumed favourite Greta Gerwig for Little Women and adding yet another guild success to Jojo's roster. Many pundits had been predicting Taika Waititi's period comedy to go home empty-handed from next week's Academy Awards prior to this result. Few are predicting that any more.
