A big five emerges upon even cursory inspection of the 2019 Chicago Film Critics Association award nominations. Out in front is Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, which notches up nine nods from the Chicago critics. Right behind it are both Martin Scorsese's The Irishman and Greta Gerwig's Little Women with eight each, while right behind them are Noah Baumbach's Marriage Story and Bong Joon Ho's Parasite with seven each.

And to add to that, those films bolstered their nomination counts with Best Picture and Director mentions, the only five to feature in either category. Not long before we find out which of the five is victorious, as the CFCA announces its award winners just two days from today, on the 14th of December. Watch this space!
