Nomadland wins Best Film on BAFTA Night #2

On night #2 of the 2020/21 BAFTA awards, Nomadland triumphed as virtually all had expected. Chloe Zhao's drama took four awards including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Leading Actress for Frances McDormand. She's the fifth performer to win a major leading actress prize this season, making this the most unpredictable Best Actress race in recent memory. Neither McDormand nor Best Leading Actor winner Anthony Hopkins - winning over Oscar favourite Chadwick Boseman - even zoomed in their acceptance speeches, in a fashion entirely typical of both thesps. One wonders why anyone bothered - after making such a big deal out of a historically diverse set of nominations, BAFTA voters reverted entirely to form in picking such a predictable bunch of award winners. Check out their night #1 winners here.
