It once was that the most nominated movie at any Golden Globe ceremony would inevitably win their Best Picture prize. That puts Noah Baumbach's Marriage Story in excellent stead to triumph this year, as it leads the pack with six nominations from the HFPA for their favourites in film in 2019. It does, however, miss out on a Best Director nod, so all bets are off...

Joker puts in a strong performance, claiming both Picture and Director nods, while Parasite makes an appearance in both Director and Screenplay (where, shamefully, no women are represented in either category). Critics' faves (we're not counting the HFPA as critics lol) Lupita Nyong'o, Florence Pugh and Adam Sandler miss out on acting nominations, where there are the usual surprises, particularly in Musical or Comedy Actress!

The 2019 Golden Globe award winners will be announced during their annual televised ceremony on the 5th of January.
