Mank leads the 2020/21 Critics Choice Film Awards nominations

The Critics Choice award nominations have been announced for the 2020/21 season and it's great news for David Fincher's Mank. The Herman J. Mankiewicz biopic leads all nominees with 12 mentions including Best Picture and Director. To many, these nominations will serve as a welcome corrective to some of last week's less impressive major awards offerings such as the Golden Globes and SAG awards, with mentions here for Da 5 Bloods in Best Picture and its lead, Delroy Lindo in Best Actor, alongside recognition for other favourites like Pieces of a Woman's Ellen Burstyn and Sound of Metal's Paul Raci. To others, these may look like yet another case of Oscar-itis run rampant at the Critics Choice Association (formerly the Broadcast Film Critics Association), with such peculiar choices as News of the World in Best Picture and The Way Back's Ben Affleck in Best Actor. Winners will be revealed on the 7th of March.
