Licorice Pizza wins 6 Georgia Film Critics Association awards

When they formed a few years back, I recall being a bit snooty toward the Georgia Film Critics Association. Fuck knows why, especially given the more recent glut of outright fake groups with wretched taste in cinema; the GFCA has since proved themselves a relatively dependable regional critics' group. Today, they've announced Licorice Pizza as their pick for the Best Picture of 2021, bestowing a further four prizes upon it, including two for lead Alana Haim. Somewhat in keeping with its supposed "decline" in recent days as awards season moves away from a steady stream of awards announcements and into the realm of "the discourse," The Power of the Dog takes only two awards here, though they're both big ones, and both for writer/director Jane Campion. Remind yourselves of the GFCA's nominations this year at this link.
