Parasite enters the last few weeks of the Oscar race in incredible fashion! Having won yesterday's Screen Actors Guild award for Ensemble Cast, the South Korean critical behemoth takes four prizes from the Latino Entertainment Journalists Association. Members chose Parasite as their Best Picture of 2019, also lauding it with Director, Original Screenplay and International Film recognitions.
Elsewhere, there was support for fellow Latinx Jennifer Lopez after her outrageous Oscar snub - she won Best Supporting Actress for her turn in Hustlers, having already been announced as the recipient of LEJA's Rita Moreno Lifetime Achievement Award. As with their slate of nominations, LEJA's choices here are largely commendable, confirming the young critics' group as among the smartest around. Two awards from this lot are worth a whole lot more than an Oscar nod, in my eyes at least!
