New critics' group alert! Alas, I missed last week's announcement of the nominations for the North Dakota Film Society's first ever year-end awards, but then that's probably because they were their first ever year-end awards. As has been the case with many critics' awards this season, Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood led the nominations with nine, while Bong Joon Ho's Parasite racked up eight and Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse impressively matched it, putting in perhaps its strongest performance of the season so far.
The NDFS' award winners, announced today, also follow a common trend, at least in this latter half of the season, with Once Upon a Time... leading their award winners, taking Best Picture alongside two other prizes.
