On yet another mammoth day of awards and nominations this season, the Houston Film Critics Society has seen fit to declare its awards contenders for the year. The Farewell makes a strong showing here, with the two acting nods it deserves and most gratifying mentions in Best Director and Original Screenplay. Otherwise, this is largely business as usual, though Jennifer Lopez is missing from the Supporting Actress lineup for Hustlers.
