Not satisfied with NYC's two separate critics' groups, the rest of New York state's critics have created a group for themselves: the Greater Western New York Film Critics Association. And why not?! Indeed, the GWNYFCA have very nice taste, as evidenced by their slate of 2019 award nominees. Ad Astra makes a stronger showing here than anywhere else so far this season, though the lead in nominations is a three-way tie between current Best Picture behemoths The Irishman, Marriage Story and Parasite.
