Everything Everywhere All at Once leads 2022 Portland Critics Association awards nominations
Updated: Jan 10

The Portland Critics Association has announced the nominees for its second annual awards, and it's no surprise which movie leads their 2022 field. Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert's Everything Everywhere All at Once is way out ahead of the pack with an incredible 14 nominations including Best Picture and Director. It's so far in front of its fellow top award nominees that the second and third-most nominated movies aren't even up for that prize: Babylon scores eight and Avatar: The Way of Water seven. These are a distinctive, not always entirely good bunch of contenders (Brad Pitt in Babylon, fuck help us all), though a little bit of individuality in an often predictable awards season is definitely welcome, and any group that nominated Mad God can't be all bad. Winners are due to be announced a week from now, on 16 January.
