Detroit Film Critics Society announces 2019 award nominations

Scarlett Johansson and Roman Griffin Davis in Jojo Rabbit

There's been a bit of buzz on Twitter lately about Jojo Rabbit's soft start to the current awards season, at least softer than expected, coupled with rumours that it's not being spoken of in the most promising terms by members of various high profile voting bodies. Fans of Taika Waititi's Nazi satire will be pleased, then, to see that buzz snuffed out a little by the Detroit Film Critics Society's 2019 award nominations. You can count the DFCS among such fans, as they rewarded it with multiple nominations. It joins The Lighthouse, Marriage Story (as expected), and The Irishman (also as expected) in faring well with the society, although I continue to notice Al Pacino's odd absence from Supporting Actor lineups thus far...

The Detroit critics will announce the winners of these awards on Monday, the 9th of December.
