Coming 2 America sweeps 2021 MUAHSG awards
Apologies for the lateness, but the post-Oscar nominations lull in awards season has had me out of my usual awards watching habits. Anyway, that lull is easing as the Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild has announced the winners of its 2021 awards, and they've thrown their weight heavily behind Coming 2 America. The long-awaited sequel, released almost a year ago now, wins all three of its nominations from the MUAHSG, leaving space for only Being the Ricardos and Cruella to pick up a prize apiece. That means The Eyes of Tammy Faye, House of Gucci and The Suicide Squad, all of which tied for the most nominations this year alongside Coming 2 America, have all come away from these awards completely empty-handed. Quite the show of support for the Craig Brewer-directed comedy, starring Eddie Murphy, especially in such a strong field - other strong contenders like Dune and No Time to Die were defeated by it in multiple categories.
