Is this how it all ends for The Power of the Dog? The Producers Guild of America, which used to announce its award winners well in advance of the closing stages of awards season, has announced CODA as its favourite movie of last year, potentially positioning it as the favourite to win the Oscar for Best Picture next weekend. If it's unlikely Oscar members, who are currently casting their votes, will pay close attention to which movies have won what, when, and why, CODA's win here comes from a generally reliable source for predicting the Best Picture winner, represents a victory on a preferential voting system (like the won AMPAS uses), and may help convince a crucial handful more of those members to watch Sian Heder's crowdpleasing drama. Sorry, Jane Campion, but you have to compete against the women too! Remind yourself of the 2021 PGA award nominations here, and check out all the winners' results below.
