BFCA Announces 2018 Critics Choice Nominations
Updated: Jan 14, 2019

I have very little to say about the Critics Choice nominations this year, except that they're as disappointingly dull as they ever are, and as dully disappointing as they ever are. Truly, it's as though the BFCA meets up every year to decide how best to predict the Oscars and pass it off as actual opinion... actually, no, that genuinely is what they do, and tbf the joke's on us for paying a jot of attention. So you know, The Favourite leads the field this year with 14 nominations (not too hard to achieve here, when one considers the glut of superfluous categories at the so-called Critics Choice awards, nor the fact that certain top categories are bumped up to seven nominees in an attempt to match all the Oscar nominees), Black Panther fights its way up to 12, and First Man makes a triumphant arrival to the awards race with 10. This year's Critics Choice awards will be held on the 13th of January. All the nominees below.
