The power stays with The Power of the Dog in today's Austin Film Critics Association awards! Jane Campion's first film in 12 years earns five prizes from nine nominations, winning Best Film, and Director for Campion herself. It loses a few significant ones - Actor to Nicolas Cage for Pig, Adapted Screenplay to Drive My Car, Cinematography to The Green Knight - but proves its mettle as a serious Oscar frontrunner by dominating here nonetheless. Perhaps the biggest surprise here is the AFCA's pick for Best Actress: Agathe Rousselle for Titane may be an unexpected choice, but it's by no means an unworthy one.
