Everything Everywhere All at Once

As ever, the Oscar nominations announcement today came with its share of highs and lows, goods and bads... and uglies. Missing Danielle Deadwyler in Leading Actress is a crime, not least when she's been overlooked for five inferior performances. And poor Dolly de Leon, comfortably the best thing about Triangle of Sadness, which somehow was inexplicably favoured by Academy members in other categories. And would it have killed them to stop voting for Diane Warren, seeing as she actually has an Academy Award at home now? But then we have Brian Tyree Henry in Supporting Actor, The Whale given a solid snubbing in some key categories, Women Talking up for Best Picture, and the pleasure of hearing Riz Ahmed read out My Year of Dicks to a global audience. Everything Everywhere All at Once leads the 95th annual Academy Award nominations with 11, while All Quiet on the Western Front and The Banshees of Inisherin follow behind it with nine.
