2022 USC Scripter Award nominees announced

The University of Southern California has announced the nominees for the 2022 Scripter Award. Exclusively for adaptations, and recognizing both the screenwriters and the original source writers, the Scripter is among the most prestigious screenwriting awards in the world. This year, they've gone with an eclectic selection, making this year's Adapted Screenplay award race even more interesting. Mainstays of the season are joined by a few contenders whose path to this position has been less than straightforward. Winners will be announced on 4 March. Check out all the details below.

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (Guillermo del Toro, Patrick McHale and Matthew Robbins - based on the fairytale "The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Carlo Collodi)

Living (Kazuo Ishiguro - based on the novella "The Death of Ivan Ilyich" by Leo Tolstoy)

She Said (Rebecca Lenkiewicz - based on the nonfiction book "She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement" by Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey)

Top Gun: Maverick (Peter Craig, Ehren Kruger, Justin Marks, Christopher McQuarrie and Eric Warren Singer - based on characters from the 1983 "California" magazine article "Top Guns" by Ehud Yonay)

Women Talking (Sarah Polley and Miriam Toews - based on the novel "Women Talking" by Miriam Toews)
