Evidently the superior of the two Phoenix-based critics' groups (based on these nominations alone), the Phoenix Critics Circle has today announced the nominees for its 2021 awards for achievement in filmmaking. Jane Campion's The Power of the Dog is the most-nominated title here, with a hefty haul of eight including Best Picture and Director. Heartened to see Spencer, which is flagging hard two weeks-odd into awards season, up for Best Picture here, but again dismayed at how even groups that nominate it for their top award can't find space for Claire Mathon in their Cinematography categories. Shame! Winners will be revealed on the 17th of December.
