2020/21 Screen Actors Guild award winners announced

A pre-taped Screen Actors Guild awards ceremony has aired on TV, revealing to the world the winners for the 2020/21 movie season. The Trial of the Chicago 7 wins the Cast prize for its all-male leading ensemble - an accolade that could see it move a step closer to the Best Picture Oscar later this month. And awards season enthusiasts will delight at SAG's pick for Leading Actress: Ma Rainey's Black Bottom's Viola Davis' win here ensuring that, for the first time in history, all five major pre-Oscar awards in this category will have gone to different performers. Another first: all four individual SAG prizes go to performers of colour. We'll just try to forget about their ensemble prizes... Remember the nominees? No? Worry not!
