2018 Writers Guild Of America Nominations Announced

Film Twitter gets its panties in a real bunch every year when the Writers Guild of America announces its nominations, or even earlier, when it's announced which titles won't be eligible. Alas, I could deride the WGA's sensibilities all year long, but the ineligible works are ineligible for a reason: this is a rare guild that only permits its members to be nominated, which makes perfect sense to me. Anyway, that means The Favourite, Sorry to Bother You, Leave No Trace and The Death of Stalin were all unable to make the cut, though it's far from the worst slate of also-rans imaginable. Sure, First Reformed missed (good old A24 and its campaign blackout!), but at least Bohemian Rhapsody didn't get in! Winners are due to be declared at the WGA ceremony on the 18th of February. All this year's nominees below.
