2018 PGA Documentary Award Nominees Announced

Updated: Jan 4, 2019

Big hitters brush up alongside a few surprise nominees in the Producers Guild of America's slate of 2018 Documentary Award nominations. The PGA annually announces nominees for this category some time before announcing those for other categories, and doesn't finalize credits for the nominations until later either. This year's crop includes three top doc hits at the box office this year - RBG, Three Identical Strangers and Won't You Be My Neighbour?, which won at the Critics' Choice Documentary Awards and remains a clear frontrunner to win the Oscar in February - alongside a handful of less well-publicized titles. Check out the whole lot right here:

Outstanding Producer of Documentary Motion Pictures

The Dawn Wall (Josh Lowell, Philipp Manderla and Peter Mortimer)

Free Solo (Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, Jimmy Chin, Shannon Dill and Evan Hayes)

Hal (Christine Beebe, Jonathan Lynch and Brian Morrow)

Into the Okavango (Neil Gelinas)

RBG (Julie Cohen and Betsy West)

Three Identical Strangers (Grace Hughes-Hallett and Becky Read)

Won't You Be My Neighbour? (Caryn Capotosto, Nicholas Ma and Morgan Neville)

The PGA will announce the remainder of its movie award nominees on the 4th of January, with a quick turnaround before the award ceremony itself on the 19th of January.
