2018 Florida Film Critics Circle Award Nominations Announced

The Favourite may lead yet another slate of critics' award nominations, but that's hardly news - it's the success of a couple of movies just behind it that's much more intriguing. The Florida Film Critics Circle has given a boost to two potentially vulnerable or underrecognized pictures with their 2018 nominations, bestowing eight nominations upon If Beale Street Could Talk (from Florida native Barry Jenkins) and First Man, though the latter film's lead, Ryan Gosling, misses out on a Best Actor nod. The aforementioned The Favourite scores nine mentions, considerably ahead of current awards season leader Roma with five.
