Some new critics' group or another always seems to pop up each fresh awards season, and not all of them are legit, so you'd be forgiven for approaching the Portland Critics Association with some suspicion. But no, the PCA is real, and its membership isn't just thronged with filmbro bloggers, so welcome to the fold, Oregonians! It's surely about time Portland was represented in the ever-expanding field of North American film critics' organizations, and they've marked their inaugural slate of awards nominees with some fine choices. The Green Knight and The Power of the Dog score nine nominations apiece including both Best Picture and Director, and their Best Horror lineup is the only decent one of its kind so far this year! But not all their picks are so redoubtable - Last Night in Soho makes inexplicable appearances in both those categories too, while King Richard's Aunjanue Ellis is snubbed for Female Supporting Role. Shame. Winners will be announced on the 17th of December.
