Two movies shared more than half the awards in the 2009 Critics Consensus Awards. The biggest winner was Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker, which won five of six nominations, missing only Original Screenplay. That went instead to Quentin Tarantino (who lost the Oscar to The Hurt Locker's Mark Boal) for Inglourious Basterds in one of three wins. Bigelow's Best Director award makes her, as at almost every other major awards ceremony that year, the first woman to win in that category, though her movie is the second directed by a woman to win Best Picture here after Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation six frames prior. Meryl Streep becomes the first performer to win four individual acting awards with a narrow victory for Julie & Julia, though Jeremy Renner's win was even narrower, and George Clooney misses out yet again as a result.
