The 1983 Critics Consensus Awards

Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger in Terms of Endearment

Enjoy this! The critics, in 1983, went hard for James L. Brooks' Terms of Endearment, bestowing upon it a record-equalling five prizes across the seven categories of the Critics Consensus Awards, only the second title to do so. It even placed second in Best Actress, where it also placed first, making for the most comprehensive domination of the CCAs yet. And James L. Brooks becomes the first person to win three awards in the same frame. But what's even more notable about this particular frame is that all seven awards went to the seven Oscar winners across these categories (Screenplay winner here being Adapted Screenplay winner there), and that is the sole time this has occurred in all 49 CCA frames to date. Even once the categories begin to expand as far as the current total of 16, no winners across these top seven have matched. So enjoy this, since things will never be the same again!
