With its helpful combination of strong tech specs and a cast at the top of its game, it was perhaps inevitable that Yorgos Lanthimos' The Favourite would lead the nominations for a large amount of critics' awards. And so it does yet again with the Columbus Film Critics Association, formerly known as the Central Ohio Film Critics Association. While that's no surprise, that it's followed closely by Steve McQueen's Widows certainly is, given the cold shoulder with which the heist thriller has been met so far this awards season. Speaking of cold shoulders, there's not a single mention for Green Book among these nominations, not even in Supporting Actor, where Mahershala Ali has been a steady presence even among groups that have otherwise ignored that title.
