2018 Screen Actors Guild Award Nominations Announced

Ben Hardy, Gwilym Lee, Joe Mazzello and Rami Malek in Bohemian Rhapsody

The 2018 SAG award nominations are up, and they've made some... choices. One can only assume that voters were not screened If Beale Street Could Talk (good job there, Annapurna), as runaway critics' favourite for Supporting Actress, Regina King, is absent here - could this mark the start of Amy Adams' path to an Oscar? Emily Blunt receives two individual nominations (this happened to Helen Mirren two years ago - albeit less surprisingly - and she couldn't turn either into Oscar nods, so Blunt's long wait for Academy recognition may not necessarily yet be over), as does Bohemian Rhapsody - the hugely popular Freddie Mercury biopic was widely expected to land in Leading Actor here, as it does, but even its biggest fans likely didn't see its Ensemble nod coming! It gets in there over widely-tipped titles The Favourite and Vice, but not at the expense of Crazy Rich Asians! This year's SAG awards will take place on the 27th of January.
