Nomadland is Phoenix Film Critics Society's Best Picture of 2020

Linda May and Frances McDormand in Nomadland

The Phoenix Film Critics Society has chimed in with their picks for the best in film from the past 14 months, with some highly familiar results. Nomadland wins three awards including Best Picture and Director which, combined with their choices in acting, screenwriting and artistic categories, makes for an overall slate that looks highly like what many are predicting for next month's Oscars. Familiar results, yes, but bad ones? Not at all, except for all the love for The Trial of the Chicago 7... So if this indeed what the Academy's setting up to do too, roll on April!
